I have generally found good ol fashioned puppy food to work the best. Puppy food tends to be high in calories to meet the demands of a growing puppy. I would feed him one specifically formulated for large breed puppies and feed him three times a day, with the lunch meal being a bit smaller. If he tends to be one who gulps his food down, you may want to add some warm water to his dry food and let it soak a little. This will slow down your dog's eating and help prevent bloat which can be deadly in deep chested dogs like mastiffs. If you are finding that he isn't a good eater or is still underweight even after upping the amount of food you are feeding, I would suggest getting together with your veterinarian to run tests for things like worms or a digestive enzymatic problem. Try upping his food, I'll bet you find he starts putting on some weight. - Carrie
