Hi Carrie,
Thank you for your email.  I am now in the tenth week of a thirteen week Dog Behavior and Training class that is offered near my home.  I have found that I am not learning very much and I have, for the most part, found myself disagreeing with the training methods being taught.  I don’t want to quit the classes because they are expensive and, who knows, maybe I’ll pick something up next week.    I have also taken dog training, with my dog, at our local PetSmart.  We took beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes there.  We did learn many commands and tricks, but with so many people in each of the classes and the classes lasting only an hour for eight weeks, we did not, effectively, work on problem behaviors or learn about living with dogs just generally.  That’s why I enrolled in the 13 week course that meets from two to three hours a week.  

After being so disappointed with this class, I began picking up books and surfing the web.  I read some of Cesar Milan’s materials and also Tamar Geller’s book. I was also disappointed with those materials. 

 Last night I was doing some research on pet vaccinations and dog diseases when I found your site.  I have to tell you, I was about to give up and just invent my own “Pamela’s Perfectly Inadequate Dog Training Method” until I saw your materials.  Your methods make much more sense to me than some of the ways that I have been taught… prong collars, choke chains, leash jerking, yelling, incessant repeating of words, bullying… I guess I don’t have to tell you.  Thank you soooo much.  I am anxious to watch and read everything on your site.
